Mission / Vision: To double the present level of fish production by 2015 to make the districts self-sufficient in fish production. To provide nutritional security to the tribal dominated Koraput district by providing ‘fish-the cheap source of animal protein’ at easy reach of common man. Main Activities / Function:Increase the cultivable water area by excavation / renovation of land / tanks through subsidized schemes. Exploit untapped water resources, i.e. reservoirs, canals, rivers, water logged areas through advanced methods of fish production. Provide training and exposure visits on scientific methods of fish farming to interested fish farmer, entrepreneur, unemployed youth, village women and so on. Provide quality fish and prawn seed to the fish farmers. Introduce new technology / candidate species for maximizing profit of the fish farmer. Create awareness among the people on the various promotional schemes of the Government on Fisheries vis-à-vis provide suitable technical / financial assistance to the interested/ suitable beneficiary.
