D.I & P.R.O

Introduction :

            This office is functioning since 1957-58 after being bifurcated from the Development Section, Collectorate, Koraput. After creation of new district, presently this office is looking after the entire two Sub-Division namely Koraput & Jeypore. This Office is functioning in its own building.

Power and Function

1.         Special Celebration :     The D.I & P.R.O organizes special celebration like Independence Day, Republic Day, Orissa Day, Gandhi Jayanti,  Birth and Death Anniversaries of eminent persons at district and Sub-divisional Headquarters. Information Centres are opened during Car Festival and Gupteswar Mela.

2.         Song & Drama :           The Traditional folk dance like Palla, Daskathia, Ghoda nacha & Street Play and Musical programmes highlighting plans, Programmes and policies of the government are organized by this department in rural and urban areas of the district.

3.         Media Coverage :         Paper advertisements are made to make Media Coverage more effective and purposeful with regard to dissemination of up to date information of the district.

4.         Photo Coverage :          The DI&PRO arranges photo Coverage of the development programmes either on his own or when asked by the Headquarters.

5.         Audio Visual Publicity Unit :      An Audio Visual Publicity unit is functioning in this office. This unit makes arrangements of Public Address system at the meeting places.

6.         Information Centre-cum-Reading Room : Two nos. of Information Centre-cum-reading Rooms are functioning in two Sub-division namely Koraput and Jeypore. These ICRRs play a significant role in disseminating Information and enriching the intellectual growth of the Society through Books, Magazines, Newspapers and other informative literatures.Besides, T.V. & Radio have been supplied to the information centres.

7    DI& PRO organizes V.I.P. Programmes as and when necessary.

8   Supervises field  publicity activities of the SDI &PRO and field activities of Radio Inspectors.

9.  Attend to publicity of developments of urgent nature such as natural calamities, outbreak of epidemics or break down of Law & order as directed by the Collector.

10.       Issue news items and success stories.

11.       Contact accredited Press Representatives as and when necessary.

12.       Any other publicity work assigned either by the Collector or the I&PR Deptt.

13.       The DI&PRO is extremely cautious in handling pressmen and communications to pressmen. Copies of such communications are invariably endorsed to the district Collector and Director I & PR Depatment..

14.       Priced Publications like Orissa Review and Utkal Prasang are sold here.   He is the D.D.O. in respect of his  office.
