Superintendent of Excise:

            Functions of Superintendent of Excise are collection of Excise Revenue towards monthly consideration money, license fee, public transfer fee of mohua flower / Rectified spirit / Excise duty etc. as per prescribed rates for different items.  Detection of Excise cases by field officials.  Inspection of Excise shops, settlement of Excise licenses, public shops in accordance with Govt. Excise policy from time to time.  Submission of monthly reports and returns to proper quarters.  Attending to Divisional Review meeting at district level. He is the D.D.O. of his office.

            The Superintendent of Excise of the district exercises powers conferred and performs the duties imposed on him under the Bihar & Odisha Excise Act.  He is subordinate to the Collector and subject to the general control of the Excise Commissioner.

            The following Excise Officers exercise the powers conferred on them by the above law.

(i)         Inspector of Excise.

(ii)        Sub-Inspector of Excise.

(iii)       Asst. Sub-Inspector of Excise.

(iv)       Excise Constable.
