District Welfare Officer:

 

            He is incharge of the office dealing with welfare section of Collectorate, Koraput.  He is responsible for the accounts of the office.  He is the drawing and disbursing officer in respect of all staff and schemes under his control.  He monitors the functioning of NGOs.  He disposes the correspondences being the head of the office.  He implements  different provisions under relevant Acts  meant for development of SCs/ STs. He is responsible for expeditious submission of the reports and returns to different quarters in time.  He is responsible for timely action on letters received from higher officers.  He renders compliance to inspection and audit reports.  He tours in the field in connection with Govt. works.  He is responsible for proper functioning of educational institutions.  He conducts the inspection of schools and other offices under his control.  He is responsible for preparation and despatch of budgets pertaining to all the matters of welfare.  He attends different meetings.  He sanctions  and disburses the pre-matric and post-matric scholarships to the SC/ST students.  He submits the utilization certificate for the amount sanctioned and spent under different items.  He assesses the reading and writing materials, submit the requirement to appropriate quarters and distribute the same properly on receipt.  He is responsible for smooth execution of tribal development schemes.  He monitors the CCRs of the different welfare staffs.  He takes preventive steps to the exploitation of tribals.  He sees to the settlement and resettlement of SC/STs.  He is responsible for implementation, supervision and monitoring of loan schemes for SEBC people.  He is responsible for providing legal justice to the victims relating to the atrocity cases of the SC/STs.  He is responsible for looking into the employment of qualified tribal in various services.  He is assisted by the ADWO   at the district head quarters in discharging the above functions.  The allocation of specific duties as assigned by Dist. Magistrate are carried out by him.  He keeps watch over the settlement of Govt. dues by beneficiaries and insist defalcation cases wherever necessary.  He takes prompt action on the establishment matters of his staff (office and field).  Any other duty as assigned by Govt. from time to time as and when required.
